Boudro's

Boudro's is quite possible the best restaurant along the Riverwalk.  It's not a chain and it has high end food with interesting flavor combinations.  They offer to make guacamole table side and have a great wine and drink list.  For a nonalcoholic beverage, I highly recommend their fresh limeade.  I have tasted the grilled portabello tostado, blackened prime rib, and chicken breast chop with guacamole risotto.  They also offer creme brulee, coconut flan, and sorbets for dessert.  The portabello tostado with black bean puree and jicama slaw is shown below.

Whataburger

Whataburger is a Texas fast food restaurant with locations all over San Antonio.  They have one of the best fast food burgers, which is GF if you order it without a bun.  They are very familiar with ordering a burger without a bun.  They serve it in a tray with all the toppings on the side.  It looks like a salad.  The fries are also GF, but they do sometimes share the fryer with other items.  Their menu lists foods without gluten and offers suggestions for eating GF.  I have included a picture of my usual order, a Whataburger with cheese (no bun) and fries.

La Fogata

La Fogata is a nice Mexican restaurant on Vance Jackson between I-10 and I-410.  They have a patio, mariachis, and terrific margaritas.  I enjoyed the food I ordered, and I love their mango margaritas, frozen or on the rocks.  A picture of the mango margarita is below.

Orange Leaf

Orange Leaf is a frozen yogurt joint that offers a variety of flavors as well as a toppings bar.  Most of the flavors are GF, as indicated by their online guide.  They also have an allergen list online.  There are GF toppings available like fruits, chocolate chips, and some candies.  Their yogurt is creamy and there are always great flavors ranging from classic to decadent to tart.  I stayed pretty traditional and got chocolate, vanilla, and coconut topped with white chocolate chips and M&Ms.

Luce Ristorante & Enoteca

Luce is one of the best Italian restaurants in San Antonio.  They have several dishes that are GF, such as steaks and risotto dishes.  They also have GF pasta available even though it is not listed on the menu.  I recommend the risotto dishes as well as the caprese salad.  Let the server know that you need to eat GF and request that meats are not breaded when you order.  The kitchen is flexible and will happily customize your order.  They also have creme brulee, gelato, and sorbetto on their dessert menu.  I uploaded pictures of the crudites that are served on the table, a fish entree with garlic vegetables and risotto, and the creme brulee.

Silo

Silo is an upscale restaurant in San Antonio that offers eclectic continental cuisine.  They offer several options that are GF and they have a great bar with an extended happy hour.  They offer a variety of cocktails and martinis and have a dessert menu that includes creme brulee and chocolate mousse.  I sampled the chocolate mousse, and it was terrific.  I have included a picture below.
